WaveCutters fast performances at East Coast Championships
The Halifax WaveCutters Swim team rounded off another hugely successfully East Coast Championships in Newfoundland.
The team posted a number of best times and podium finishes to round off the most successful swim competition they have had this season. The number of best times and podium finishes was a great achievement for the club and a good indicator of quality as they continue to move forward.
The competition took place in St. John's, Newfoundland from July 4th until July 7th, 2013. The competition was a long and strenuous 4 days of competing and the swimmers rose up to the challegen and delivered. Devon Slongo, Netali Bar, Devin Macdonald, Annie Wang, and Juliana Pouliot all performed at the highest standard at the fastest times they have been all year.
Juliana Pouliot came away with two gold medals in her age group in the 50m and 100m Butterfly, while there were also medals Netali Bar, Devon Slongo, and Annie Wang. The total medal breakdown is summarized below:
Netali Bar (13-14 age group): Bronze in 50m freestyle, Bronze in 800m freestyle, Silver in 400m Individual Medley, Bronze in 200m backstroke, Silver in 400m freestyle
Juliana Pouliot (13-14 age group): Gold in 50m butterfly, Gold in 100m butterfly, Bronze in 200m butterfly
Devon Slongo (15 and over age group): Silver in 400m Individual Medley, Silver in 200m backstroke, Bronze in 400m freestyle, Bronze in 200m Individual Medley
Annie Wang (13-14 age group): Silver in 50m butterfly, Bronze in 100m freestlyle
While we are so proud of our swimmers for attaining and winning all of those medals, we are even more thrilled by the progress all the swimmers made in terms of improving their times. All swimmers had at least one best time and some had incredible breakthroughs. We are proud of them and congratulate them on their success.
