Halifax Wavecutters produce good performances at Eastern Canadian Championships
The Halifax Wavecutters Aquatic Club had promising results at the Eastern Canadian Championships held in Montreal, QC from February 14-17, 2013.
The team sent to the meet were Juliana Pouliot, Devon Slongo, and Dmitry Shulga. All three of these swimmers met the time standards required for the participation in the Eastern Championships and all of raced hard to produce a number of best times and high place finishes. Most notably was Dmitry Shulga, who won two medals, a silver in 200 meters Backstroke, and a bronze in the 100 meters Backstroke.
Devon Slongo had a promising meet with a best time in the 200 backstroke, while Juliana had a notable swim in the 200 backstroke where she also had a personal best time. The team is fully focused on competing at the East Coast Championships hosted at the Dalplex from February 28-March 3, 2013. The team is optimistic about their chances at the up coming East Coast Championships and are prepared to swim fast as they taper. All the swimmers are looking to advance their rankings at the next swim meet and they are in great shape and position to do so based on their training and confidence.
For some of the swimmers who traveled to all swim meets this year, East Coast Championships marks a third full swim meet of the month and their racing sharpness will help them race preliminary and final swims when it comes to their respective events.
