HWAC Makes Waves at 2010 Ken Dunn Championships

Fourteen swimmers. Thirty-seven medals. Two Individual High Point Awards. And one Top Team Performance Award.

Pretty awesome results for one of the smallest swim teams in Atlantic Canada.

Add to this the fact that every single member of the Halifax Wavecutters Aquatic Club has now achieved East Coast Time Standards (way to go, Baylee!) – a huge testament to the quality coaching of Nickolay Shulga and the can-do attitude and work ethic of our swimmers.

And while many, many best times and top-eight placements were achieved at Ken Dunn, for want of room we’ll just list those who medaled. Congratulations to the following:

12 & Under Boys

Colm – 1st in all of 200 Free, 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 200 Fly, 200 IM, 200 Back. Colm was also awarded the Individual High Point Award for 12 & Under Boys.

Roger – 1st in 400 Free, 800 Free, 400 IM; 2nd in 50 Back.

Blair – 2nd in 400 Free, 800 Free, 50 Breast; 3rd in 200 IM, 200 Free.

12 & Under Girls

Julia – 1st in 50 Free, 200 Free, 400 Free and 200 Back; 3rd in 50 Back. Julia was also awarded the Individual High Point Award for 12 & Under Girls.

Ruah – 1st in 800 Free, 50 Fly and 400 IM; 2nd in 200 IM; 3rd in 400 Free

Katie – 2nd in 400 IM

13-14 Boys

Andrew – 1st in 800 Free; 2nd in 200 Free; 3rd in 100 Free

Devon – 1st in 100 Back; 2nd in 200 Back, 200 IM and 400 IM; 3rd in 100 Fly

Jacob – 3rd in 400 Free

1st in the200 Freestyle Relay

2nd in 200 Medley Relay

15 & Over Girls

Lucy – 2nd in 50 Free

The Halifax Wavecutters Aquatic Team set Nova Scotia's only Provincial Record during the month of May at their time trial. The 11-12 boys set a new NS long course provincial record in the 800m Freestyle Relay.
